Interview with: Paul Gebbink, CEO & Product Developer

How did you get involved in network marketing?
"In 1980, I started studying physiotherapy and was fortunate enough to intern at an Olympic training centre in Amsterdam, where top athletes were being treated. Vitamins are essential for elite athletes, so we did a lot of blood testing, which revealed that many people had vitamin deficiencies. In 1994, I was working as a physiotherapist in Los Angeles during the World Cup, and there I attended a seminar on network marketing combined with nutritional supplements. I found it incredibly interesting—so interesting that Els and I decided to get involved in that network marketing company. We brought it to the Netherlands and eventually expanded to several other countries in Europe and to South Africa. We did that for twenty years and gained a wealth of experience."

How did Beyuna come into being?
"At a certain point, I thought: this can be done better. The supplements can be of higher quality, and the earning model can be more transparent and fair. So that’s what we created, and that’s how we founded Beyuna eleven years ago—a Dutch network marketing company specialising in premium nutritional supplements."

What is your role at Beyuna?
"I develop Beyuna’s nutritional supplements. I am responsible for the composition of the products—I look at the ingredients, the natural fillers, and even the capsules themselves. I read a great deal of scientific research on the effectiveness of various substances. I believe it’s important that supplements are made from natural ingredients that the body recognises and that they contain no additives such as synthetic fillers, binders, colouring agents, or flavourings. We started in 2014 with four products, and now the Beyuna range includes twenty nutritional supplements.

In addition, I provide training, presentations, and seminars at Beyuna events and in the Academy. We established the Beyuna Academy to train and educate people in network marketing. I truly see network marketing as a profession. When someone becomes a distributor at Beyuna, you need to support them in starting their business and help them create a business plan. We have an E-Learning platform to guide them through this process—just follow the modules and, by the end, you’ll have your own business plan.

I’m also the CEO of Beyuna and involved in various executive tasks and developments to ensure that Beyuna remains strong well into the future."

What do you enjoy most about Beyuna?
"In many companies with traditional earning models, people are more or less discriminated against based on their gender, age, or background. In network marketing, everyone is equal and has the same opportunities. It all comes down to your own effort. Our earning model gives many people the chance to become financially independent. On top of that, I’m a huge fan of our own supplements—we create high-quality nutritional products from nature. And I’m not the only one who’s a fan: consumers and distributors keep reordering, and everything sells out time and again.

It’s also fascinating when you look at the global growth market for nutritional supplements, which continues to expand rapidly—especially the demand for natural, non-GMO supplements."

You’ve been successful for over thirty years—where does that mindset come from?
"I used to be into bodybuilding, and before that, I was a cyclist—so I was actually very skinny when I started bodybuilding. I stopped cycling at 18, and thirteen years later, I was competing in the Dutch Bodybuilding Championships. I got a lot of criticism from people: 'You’ll never make it,' or 'Why would you do all that?' You just have to block that out. It’s all about your end goal and how badly you want something. You need to fix that goal firmly in your mind.

I also enjoy restoring old cars. I’ll start with a wreck that most people think is worthless. In fact, I don’t even have to buy the cars I restore—people are happy to throw them away. I begin with absolutely nothing and, with the help of good people around me, I spend three to four years turning it into something beautiful. It’s about the end goal—just like in sports, or in car restoration, or with Beyuna. You start something, but it’s not finished in a week. A structured approach is essential. Create a three- or five-year plan and continuously evaluate where you are in relation to your end goal. Where do you stand now? How far are you from where you want to be?"

What advice can you offer based on your experience?
"What I want people to understand when they start with Beyuna is that it won’t happen automatically—just like anything else worth doing in life. Attend meetings as often as you can, both online and offline. There are so many opportunities to become successful. Follow the people who are already walking the path to success."
