Golden Turmeric Protein Smoothie

Are you familiar with golden milk? Or turmeric chai latte? This recipe combines the delicious flavors and health benefits of these Ayurvedic drinks, but in a protein smoothie form. Energizing and spicy thanks to superfoods like turmeric, ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon, and wonderfully sweet thanks to frozen banana and coconut.
Turmeric is the star of this smoothie, and not just because of the color! It contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound known to support joints, boost immunity, and protect against oxidative stress.
Ingredients
For 1 large smoothie:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/3 cup cauliflower rice (optional, it makes the smoothie thicker and creamier, but you won’t taste it)
- 3 carrots or 1/2 medium-sized carrot
- 30g Beyuna Protein
- 1-2 tablespoons almond or cashew butter
- 1-2 tablespoons chia or flax seeds (or a mix of both!)
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (a piece about 2.5 cm)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 180 ml light canned coconut milk
- A pinch of cardamom
- A bit of nutmeg and ground black pepper*
*Black pepper is necessary to properly absorb the nutrients from turmeric! You won’t taste it, and you only need a tiny amount.
Directions
Add all ingredients to a powerful blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust the spices if needed. You can add more ginger if you prefer. Add coconut milk if needed to achieve your desired consistency. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
